Octobers member of the month is Don Green, badge #46. Don joined in 1965 and has been an active member since. He joined at the persuasion of one of the charter members of the company and has held numerous positions during his tenure. Don has been the Treasurer, Commissioner and Safety officer. He was a board member when the Satelite Firehouse was built on Church Street and was a key in the ground breaking.
On Thursday September 10, 2015 members attended the annual Wall Township 9/11 services at
town hall. Following the services South Wall members gathered around our newly constructed 9/11 and fallen members memorial.
The memorial was blessed by a Father from St Dennis Church. The memorial was built around our flag pole mounted on the memorial of our fallen members of South Wall as well as a piece of WTC steel that is mounted on a rock on top of stone in the shape of the Pentagon.
This memorial was completed by countless labor and planning hours by our volunteer members. Alex Burke who is a member of South Wall and the owner of Burke Environmental was an irreplaceable part of constructing the memorial.
We are all very proud of this memorial and our thoughts and prayers are always with the victims lost in the attacks on September 11, 2001. We will Never Forget.
On Tuesday, August 18 around 3pm South Wall was requested into Lake Como today for RIT 
(Rapid Intervention Team) for a residential fire. Due to heat and manpower issues South Wall was immediately put to work to assist in fire suppression and ventilation. Some picture below courtesy of FF Iorio and Whille.

No one was injured in a fire that gutted a house on 21st Avenue Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
South Belmar fire Chief Ron Whille said the Lake Como Police Department received a call at around 3 p.m. for a report of smoke coming out of a house.
No one was home at the time of the fire, Whille said. But residents occupied homes on both sides of the house and were told by authorities to evacuate.
Whille said he didn’t know where in the house the fire originated from.
As of 4 p.m., firefighters remained on scene, going in and out of the house, but the bulk of the fire was extinguished. The fire appeared to have caused extensive damage to the interior of the huse, though the structure was still intact.
No residents were injured during the fire, but two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, Whille said.
Responding to the scene were firefighters from West Belmar, South Wall, South Belmar, Glendola and Neptune. The County of Monmouth EMS Task Force was also on scene.

e time is 12pm-3pm. Please come out and meet our firefighters! The event is located at our Main Firehouse, 2605 Atlantic Ave, Wall Twp.
There will be equipment and firefighting demonstrations, Refreshments, and All equipment will be on display including our new Rescue equipment and Structural Collapse Trailer!
Super 50/50 Tickets will also be available for purchase for the January 1, 2016 drawing!

In 2014 members of South Wall Fire Rescue with the cooperation of Wall Fire District 3 began Structural 
Collapse training and building a trailer to respond with. Twenty Five Members have completed over 100 hours training and are compliant now with NFPA Collapse Operations. We have a mutual aid agreement with Neptune Special Ops and are in the process of working with Monmouth County OEM in building our response protocol.
With the help of Senior men and a friend of the fire company Mackenzie Savage who assisted in designing and drawing the patch we are proud to introduce the South Wall Special Operations Patch. Members who are on the collapse team will proudly display this patch.
Out team and members look forward to growing our team in the future and continuing to work with our mutual aid companies.

South Wall Fire Rescue is proud to announce three recent graduates of the Firefighter 1 program at Middletown Township Fire Academy. These recruits have trained over the last 3 months including 180 hours of classroom and hands on training. We welcome these members as active probationary members in the company and are excited for them to develop into useful and dedicated full members of our department.

Interested in becoming a firefighter? Members who join our fire company must complete the 
firefighter 1 program usually at Middletown Fire Academy. This is an intensive 180 hours of classroom and hands on training, which class is held every Tuesday, Thursday evening and Saturday full day. This training includes military drill, physical training, Hazardous material, Structure fire and Vehicle Fire training along with many other topics. Recruits must complete the class and successfully pass a State written final exam as well as “JPR” which are hands on job performance requirements that are pass/fail.
Three of our probationary members will be graduating on June 20, 2015 from Middletown Fire Academy and have grown through the program into firefighters ready to safely help the community as professional firefighters.
Their training will not stop there however, besides learning from our in house training, on the job experience and senior members, our firefighters continually take classes at local fire academies to expand upon the knowledge and abilities of the members and the company together.
On Saturday, May 30, 2015 at approximately 4pm. South Wall was dispatched to the Sea Girt mall for a reported roof fire. Crews arrived and found a smoke condition coming from the overhang. Crews had a hard time locating the fire due to it smoldering between the roof and the exterior and interior walls. The area was opened up and extinguished with out extension into the stores. Point Pleasant Beach Fire company was also on scene as automatic RIT.
On Friday, May 26, 2015 South Wall responded to Foodtown for a reported Frion leak. Crews arrived and confirmed the store was evacuated and there was a Frion leak from the refrigerant system. Neptune OEM / Hazmat responded and were able to assist and mitigate the leak. The building was ventilated and The Foodtown was reopened for business at 6:15 p.m.
The following agencies responded and assisted with this incident: Wall Township OEM, South Wall Fire Department, Neptune OEM/Haz-Mat, Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management, Monmouth County Health Department, and the Wall Township EMS and Community First Aid, he said.
On May 18, 2015 at 5:45pm South Wall Special Operations team was called into Neptune for a Structural Collapse, car into building. This was our first deployment as an official team and recently signed mutual aid agreement with Neptune OEM. Crew assembled a double “t” shore and a Three post vertical shore to secure the building. Upon completion of the shoring, team members connected a Grip Hoist to the vehicle so the removal could be slow and controlled. The vehicle was successfully removed without any further damage. All members involved put in countless hours of training and dedication and it all paid off! Fantastic job by all involved.
