Over the last month South Wall has completed the renovations of the Special Operations Trailer which is home to mostly Structural Collapse Equipment. We had instructors in from Safety and Survival Training to hold refresher training on the skills of shoring up a compromised building with our Paratech Struts and Lumber.

POSTING OF NUMBERS ON BUILDINGS
Residence please remember to have your house numbers posted visibly for first responders.
Township Ordinance:
140-123 Posting of numbers on buildings.
Every principal building shall have its street address clearly posted in an area which is visible from the road on which it fronts. Numerals for residential buildings shall be no less than two inches high and one inch wide. Numerals for nonresidential buildings shall be no less than six inches high and two inches wide and shall not contribute toward the permitted square footage for advertising signage.

Smoke Detectors
Tonight (November 2, 2014) is daylight savings time. We are to change our clocks back 1 hour. This also means we have to change the batteries in the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. This should be done no matter what! Working smoke detectors are proven to save lives!

Paratech Training
Members participated in training with our new airbag systems. Reps from Paratech rescue equipment came to South Wall and provided 3 hours of hands on training on hi pressure and low pressure air cushions. This equipment replaced old airbags that were past their expiration date. They are in service on our Heavy Rescue truck and are part of our Structural Collapse and Vehicle Extrication equipment.
Cover Assignment
Today South Wall was honored to provide a cover assignment in for Tinton Falls Fire Company # 1 while they attended a life members funeral. Squad 378 (equipped with Holmatro Rescue tools and RIT equipment) staffed a crew of 6 members stood by between the hours of 5pm – 9pm. South Wall handled two calls during this assignment with out incident.
Structure Fire
On October 15, 2014 South Wall Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in our District. Agencies assisting on scene were Wall Fire Company 1, Glendola Fire Company, Point Beach Fire Company. The fire is being investigated by Wall Township Police and Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.

Our new Structural Collapse Trailer is nearing completion. Over 40 hours of work was put into this trailer to convert it to our needs.
This trailer houses equipment including assorted lumber, Paratech struts and more for shoring buildings that sustained structural damage due to man made disasters, natural disasters ect.
